Assign Google Drive Labels in bulk
👋 PREVIEW
If you wish to use this feature before its release date, please contact us at support@folgo.app to enable it.
Google Drive's Labels are a new way to organize your Google Drive content. When creating a new file, you can directly assign a label to enhance your content organisation and file retrieval process.
For new domains just starting on Google Workspace, this feature is good as it is. On the other hand, if you already have a lot of content, organised with folders instead of labels, getting through all you files individually to assign a label to each one of them becomes a tedious and time-consuming task.
This is why, at Folgo, we decided to enable you to assign labels in bulk to all your files within a folder, and its sub-folders and save you precious time.
In this article
Step 1: Assign the desired label to one of your file
To assign a label to every files within a folder, the first step you need to do is to assign the desired label to one of the files within that folder.
To do so, select a random file from your folder, and set your desired label by clicking on "More Actions" / "Labels"
Step 2: Open Folgo and navigate to the Label Assignment menu
You can then open Folgo from Google Drive, and navigate to "Rename & add labels" / "Add labels"
Step 3: Select the file with the label to replicate
Once in the Label Assignment menu, first, select the file from Step 1 on which you previously set the label you wich to replicate.
Folgo will detect the file you selected and update the label assignment menu then.
Step 4: Select the parent folder of the files to label
By default, the target folder will be the parent folder of the file you previously selected in Step 3.
If you wish to change the target folder, you can do so by clicking on the little blue pen next to the "Selected folder" field.
Step 5: Select the label you wish to replicate
In the case where the selected file has multiple labels, you need to indicate which one of the labels you wish to replicate trough your entire folder.
You can select the desired label in the "Label to replicate" field.
Step 6: Lauch your Label Assignment job
You're all set, you can simply click on the blue "Assign Label" button, and let Folgo do the job!
Tip: Once the label assignment process is started, you can opt to close Folgo, Google Drive, your browser, or your computer.
The Label Assignment is carried out on Google Cloud, and you will be notified via email upon completion, including a summary of the job status and a link to the Google Sheets report that has been generated.
With this feature you will save precious time while still enssuring all of your data is well organised.
